Coincidentally, around my last emails about your superpowers, another company showed a prime example of what customers, you and me, can influence with their money.
Doritos, a brand owned by Frito-Lay, which itself is part of PepsiCo, joined the club of “we shove advertising into the throats of our customers that is contrary to them and our brand” and then wonders when it backfires.
At least, it looks like they reverted a bit faster than the others to reduce the pain, aka losing lots of money and brand damages.
Two things most companies fear.
Losing money now is short-term.
A damaged brand is long-term and affects future money.
Without money, they go broke.
So, rethink if you ever find yourself caught in the “I can’t do a thing” thoughts.
Because you can, you’ve superpowers.
