Be clear or you get unexpected results

Shortly after sending my last email, I got reminded that human communication is full of misunderstandings.

It’s everywhere and sometimes in the smallest words.

Like snail mail for example.

In the North American English-speaking world, people know that snail mail is postal mail. You know, those letters you can touch, have to open with a knife and are usually only bills or advertisements as almost nobody sends them anymore.

But someone’s post on Twitter showed me that there’re many people in the world that don’t know that term and are confused.

Funnily, that’s not me even I am not a native English speaker and neither from the Americas. But here I was assuming anybody knows that term because I do.

And what I know, others know too.

BEEP.

Wrong.

Nobody besides yourself knows what you know.

Nobody can peek inside your head.

Same with me.

But I tend to forget that sometimes.

So, don’t be like me the next time you send something :-)

And in case, you did not reply to my Card vs Letter previously, snail mail is postal mail.

Thanks :-)
