The wrong pride

People shout pride while swinging their rainbow flags because they’re proud of their sexual orientation.

Others are proud of their country and wave their flags.

While others are proud of their skin color.

But do you know what they all have in common?

They’re proud of the wrong thing.

They are proud of something they never ever had to put any effort into.

They’re proud of something totally random.

The draw on the lucky wheel of the universe decided it.

Not their own actions and efforts.

Let’s better drap that.

Instead, be proud of your actions and achievements.

Studied hard for a test and got a good grade?

Be proud.

Lifted hard and scored your personal best weight?

Be proud.

Got from couch to 5km run?

Be proud.

Have burnout and made it out of bed?

Be proud.

You interacted with a stranger first while having social anxiety?

Be proud.

Be proud of whatever you achieve through your own actions.

But drop any pride based on random draws at the lucky wheel.
