Maybe one of the best things in my life was learning to trust my gut feelings.
But sometimes it needs an extra lesson to remember.
See, I’ve been looking for a new nightstand for a few months now, on and off.
Not too much success, either ugly or it’s way above what I am willing to spend.
Recently, I found an okay-ish and cheap one.
After pushing it a bit to the next day for a while, I finally clicked the buy button.
Assuming I get a solution, but life had other plans for me.
The seller sent the “deleivered to delivery service” notification on Monday evening.
O Wednesday, the status was still the same.
Reached out to the seller, they responded that DPD, the delivery service, is overloaded, but it will come soon.
40 min later, the status changed.
Hadn’t I reached out, it ight still be in that state.
Anyways, should’ve come last week’s Friday, all nice updates notifications until it suddenly states “i wasn’t home and it’s going to the pick up shop”.
Great, the delivery guy was just too lazy and skipped me…
But I could pick it up after 2 p.m. as it reached the pick up shop.
But lo and behold, it wasn’t there at 3 pm, nor at 4 pm.
The shop guy told me the driver wasn’t even there today.
I should try it later today.
I didn’t, as I thought I could pick it up on Saturday.
But guess what? The damn shop had closed over the weekend. The hsop-guy could’ve told me…
So, waiting till Monday.
Opens at 10 am.
Nah…
Was still closed at 10
.While walking home again, I was wondering if it was a hint from the universe that the thing might be wrong anyway, and I should let go.
But after a chat with a friend, I came, for whatever reason, to the decision it might be a test too if I really want it.
It wasn’t
At least not for that.
So, went again in the afternoon and finally got it.
Started assembling it and noticed a strange design choice that the pictures did ot show and got pissed off. Plus a few other issues with it.
It was a pain to package again. Tetris was more fun than trying to fit everything in the package again, especially since a computer designed the layout.
Requested a return label from them, and went on Wednesday to the next DHL shop to send it back.
But it didn’t end there; the QR code wasn’t working, and it did not print a label.
So, I had to take it back and contacted the seller to pick it up.
But they offered a pick up via DPD, which I took as a threat after that horrible delivery experience with them, printed the label, and went back to DHL to get rid of it finally.
Lesson of my experience?
Listen to my guts. Could’ve totally avoided the latter part.
Was a great test :-)
At least, now I can laugh about it.
So, remember my story next time your gut is telling you something.
