Don't trust

“Don’t trust people in suits” is one thing I recently recommended to my daughter as life advice.

Nice clothing and a friendly look can hide the ugly well.

It’s like a mask.

If you’re not careful, you will fall for it.

And later, you have a harsh awakening when you realize the truth and the mess you got into.

Hopefully, you’ll wake up and be careful in the future.

Sadly, some fellows never learn from their experiences.

But it’s not just a one-sided thing.

The other was a decent human being, too, at some point in their past. Until a chain of decisions they made turned them ugly, and they hide behind a mask.

Some of them go against their own ethics just to keep a job so they can pay for a life they hate.

Unlucky deep down but unable to overcome their fear and break free.

But that’s a topic for another time.

Trust is hard to gain but so easy to lose.

One tiny mistake and all is lost.

And the worst thing is, it can even affect people who’ve never been involved just because they share a similarity with the losing party.

Like folks wearing suits in business :-)

And it’s not even necessary that the thing must have happened to you before.

It’s enough if someone in your space was affected by such a thing once.

It’s fair and unfair at the same time.

For example, not all folks in suits are bad but the good ones have to work extra hard to gain trust because it’s safer for us to skip them altogether than risking a deal with one.

Food for thought, for whatever side you’re in.
