Hold yourself accountable?

The lack of accountability showcased in our current time is baffling me.

Like folks celebrating a murder and making fun of the victim, and publishing that online for the world to see… And when consequences knock at their door, like public backlash or losing their jobs, they are astonished and whine.

And look for the fault everywhere else but their own actions.

No shred of accountability to be seen.

Everyone else is at fault but not they.

But it’s not only such dramatic cases.

I do customer support for all my projects, and I can tell you that people will do mental gymnastics and lie until they have a longer nose than Pinocchio, to wiggle their way out of a purchase. Doing everything to get a refund because, for whatever reason, they don’t like it anymore.

The most astonishing request I ever had was a person “taking full accountability for their purchase, but because of x, y, and z, they want to return it and get a refund.”

Their accountability just stayed alive till it reached the but.

I still can’t decide if it was actually better in the past, or it was just the local lock with no way to shout shit out into the world for everyone to see. And where it stays forever.

Forever online. For everybody to see.

But one thing is for sure.

If you hold yourself accountable for your actions, it will ultimately improve your life.

You can improve to a better version of yourself.

You can look yourself in the eyes every time you look in a mirror.

It will build trust with others.

They’ll see role models, which they can start to imitate.

And ultimately, we make the world a better place.
