Laughing at rumination

I was going to write about accountability initially, but then the downstairs neighbor wanted to complain on Saturday.

About me feeding birds on my balcony, but that doesn’t really matter.

The funny thing happened afterwards when my brain started to ruminate on that topic again.

And again.

And again.

Making it bigger nd more dramatic each time.

Whenever it felt like having a chance to throw those thoughts in and annoy me, or whatever the goal is.

But it did not work.

Instead, it was perfect for practicing mindfulness.

Of course, those thoughts came, and I joined in until realising it.

And that’s the power moment I got.

Now I could interrupt it.

Shaking my head or even laughing out loud because of this absurdity interrupted the thoughts, and they were gone.

Or I could join it for a while. That’s refreshing too if you do it consciously.

The power is in that moment where you can stop it.

And every time it comes back, it’s a new chance to detect and stop it earlier.

What a pleasurly practice time my weekend was ;-)

Tips on mindfulness and other mind topics related to personal growth. Irregularly. I dropped a strict schedule. Not more than once a week. NO BS.
