So, how extreme are you and how do you treat the opposite extreme?
Yes, there’s always an opposite. And I bet your mind already picked a topic for you. Use that for the thought exercise and discover something new about yourself.
Now imagine you and one from the opposite extreme are facing each other like in those Western movie duels. The tumbleweeds are rolling. it’s getting quiet and..
.. you turn around 180 degrees, and suddenly the other is standing on your toes and facing you.
What?
Yeah, we are not gonna shoot. I got a surprise for you.
You got more in common and are way closer to each other than you think.
Another human; might even like and dislike the same things as you do besides the topic you’re on extreme opposites. But maybe not even there.
You see the insecurities in that person. Unsure what to do, how to react. “Should I shoot?” “What do I do now?”
It’s just like you.
Are you gonna pull the trigger?
If there’s one extreme, there’s an opposite of it. And both might have their place and time but neither is beneficial for you as an ongoing lifestyle.
It puts you in narrow thinking and against each other and the longer you stay into that, the more extreme your methods and thoughts will get. Look around you, especially online, and you’ll see extremes everywhere and how humans interact with each other…
Peaceful discussions, agreeing on having different opinions, and truly reflecting on them are the exception.
Think about it.
I intentionally left out any examples as they don’t help and we tend to think and reflect on a single topic only. Maybe next time.
But now, reflect on it about your own extremes.
