Fear is one of those essential human emotions.
Without it, we wouldn’t be here.
Our ancestors would’ve died long ago.
But it has two sides, like everything.
If you don’t tame it, it will trigger for the tiniest, irrational, or exaggerated things.
And you’ll lose. Money, wealth, health, and lots more.
Whole industries are based on that.
Insurance, for example.
They sell you “peace of mind” to some fears, real and unreal ones, or with a close probability to unrealistic.
Yeah, your home insurance covers fire, water damage, and for a little bit extra against meteorites falling on your house.
And when you need them, in the worst case, they might not even pay.
Like when a frozen pee block from a plane crashes through your roof, “Ah, sorry that’s not a meteorite; we don’t cover that.”
But of course, took your money till then.
Or politics uses it to divide people.
Create fear that AfD or Trump are fascists and want to do x, y, z, while the job of other parties is to create fear of the left, greens, whatever.
In the end, you’ve got multiple parties fearing each other, and you can rule in peace over them as nobody detects that it’s just a facade.
But we don’t need such grand things.
It starts with telling kids that something bad will happen when they do x.
Not just once, but on repeat.
Like you’re bad in math because you suck at the timetables.
Now, they fear math and everything related to it.
While in truth, you’re just bad at timetables.
With your bad grades, you’ll never find a job. Who’s gonna hire you?
Or don’t climb the tree, you could fall and break your neck.
Valid concern and good intention. Although those can backfire faster than we think.
Which loops me back to the beginning.
Fear is essential for survival and it prevents us from doing serious shit.
However, if you let it stay untamed, you’ll be controlled by fear and a pawn in the game of life or others.
And your freedom and happy life are gone.
