I use Grammarly for my writing as it helps me with fixing typos, grammar and improving my writing.
And I love it.
But…
I don’t like paying the regular full price for it. It’s like I got allergic to it.
Not that the price is too high. It’s actually a decent price tag for a business expense.
It’s just that they conditioned me to get a huge discount.
It goes like “here is your discount”, “Great, I sign up for a year”, cancel before renewal and wait.
Some weeks or so later, I got a discount again.
Sometimes, I had to irregularly go to the pricing page, and upgrade screen but never pay for the discount to show up.
But it came for years.
So, I am waiting this year again.
Even it’s a bit annoying right now as I constantly have to check texts but the free version is not enough.
Yet, I still don’t like to pay the regular acceptable price.
That’s the power of conditioning.
And they did that to me. Unintentionally, probably.
Otherwise, it’d be a big blunder for a business.
The thing is, such things are happening all the time to all of us. And we even condition others.
If you tolerate the same person who is regularly yelling at you, you condition them that it is fine to yell at you.
And thus treat you badly.
If your boss comes to you asking if you can do XYZ because it is important, nobody can do it, you’re the only one and you say yes a few times, he will come always to you without ever looking for an alternative anymore.
You conditioned him.
Think about it.
