”… Yes, the truth does not matter… those bastards will only believe what they wish to…” said the villain while spreading false rumors to accomplish his goals.
And I had to stop reading and take a screenshot of it so I remember it for an email.
It’s true.
Many folks believe whatever they are given, regardless of how suspicious it is, because they want it to be true.
And maybe helping their own agenda or just verifying their believes are still right and the best.
Or it might question everything in their life.
Which brings tons of other issues with it.
The sad thing is it’s everywhere.
I just need to open YouTube, look at the news, or catch a glimpse of a newspaper somewhere.
Suspicious shit that’s topped by the suspicious shit beside it.
And people believe it.
Because they want to believe.
Not all, of course; plenty of folks question a lot.
But even those have such blind spots in other areas.
And it’s beyond the simple Gell-Mann amnesia effect, the one where you detect errors in your particular fields of expertise in any article, but once you read outside your expertise scope, you “blindly” believe anything again.
What shit do you believe because you want to because it otherwise would threaten your peace?
Think about it.
