Yesterday wasn’t a fun day and it was close to getting a worse one. But it didn’t, thanks to practicing mindfulness.
I had my tasks planned out for the day, starting with some me-time in the morning and then getting shit done till early afternoon when the family is back.
However, my subconsciousness came up with a great idea for one of my projects.
Of course, too early in the morning like all those chirping birds now. Brain, birds, I want to sleep. Not rolling in my bed trying to sleep while thinking about some idea and listening to birds’ marriage proposals.
Don’t get me wrong. I love those but not when I want to sleep.
Anyway. As soon as I finally woke up and started the day, my mind was rumbling on this new idea and letting me google for howtos and finding a solution that works for me…
That came to an abrupt end when I realized, it’s already close to noon and I should do my tasks instead.
Ok, put the idea aside, and start with the first to do.
Which was fine until I looked at the dashboard of a service I use and realized I am way over the limits of my plan and wasn’t there an email two months ago from them
I spare you the details. It’s not even rational what happened at all. And that is ok. We, humans, are largely emotionally driven even when we think we are not.
The last thing was just the tipping point, the last drop of water in an already full glass, and now it’s swapping over.
But you know?
Those things do happen.
All. The. Time.
And the worst you and I can do is to resist, start complaining why is this happening to me and all the other bullshit that comes along.
Accept it and move on.
That’s what I learned through mindfulness.
It’s tough. It takes time.
But it is worth it for me.
Now I can talk about things like that that happened yesterday, make fun of it, and just move on, free of any burden of regret, guilt, and the other guys.
Or like my accountability buddy said:
“That happened to me on Tuesday. Nothing was done, still exhausted. Then so it be 🤘”
