One thing my mother taught me early was, “If you gonna lie, you need a freaking awesome memory. Otherwise, you’ll forget which lie you told to whom, and when the truth comes out, you’ll be fucked”.
Decades in, I still believe she was right.
Even when you don’t care to remember your lies, others will remember.
And they will come back and rub your nose in it.
