Sometimes things don’t need fancy setups.
Your intention and will to do it is enough.
It’s been 3 weeks since I stopped watching YouTube and TikTok videos.
I stopped watching TikTok last year and went for a long while without it.
Except for the occasional videos friends & family shared with me.
But they’re ok and were never the issue.
But then I started to watch TikTok intentionally again.
Without the time-sink-hole of my previous experiences with it.
Then some weeks ago I realized another behaviour that crept in.
When I got bored on weekends and didn’t want to read anymore but didn’t know what to do else I switched to YouTube and sometimes TikTok.
Scrolling a few times, then closing the apps as nothing interesting was there or I was fed up with the same old 💩 and this senseless topic stretching; hell if you can say it in 10s do it and don’t make a 10min out of it.
It became a cycle that annoyed me, so I had to do something.
So I instructed myself, “Don’t open those apps in those situations” and nothing more.
It’s been 3 weeks now without opening them except maybe 3 videos via friends& family or listening to music.
hmm maybe the urge came three or four times but it wasn’t hard to resist. It’s like my instructions just overrode it, and it was gone shortly.
And it makes a great reminder that we sometimes just need to set our minds to it and don’t need any fancy and complex tools.
Give it a try next time.
